The Otago Golf Club is the oldest club in the southern hemisphere, founded in 1871. A Par 71, 5972 metre course set beside undulating native bush with iconic city and harbour views. A golfing experience not to be missed.
Our number 11 signature hole, The Glen, was selected by Gene Sarazen, as one of his best 18 holes in the world. In 1966 Arnold Palmer drove the green, a 370 metres distance, then two-putted to halve with Bob Charles. Gary Player had hole in one on the par 4 283 metre Ridge hole during the New Zealand Open. Bobby Locke won the New Zealand Open here 1938 and Peter Thomson won in 1953 and 1971.
Enjoy our large, comfortable clubhouse with panoramic views, a quality bar and cafeteria/restaurant facilities and view our historic memorabilia.
There are only a number of clubs in the World with the heritage and history. Every golfer should experience the Balmacewen course, tradition and history and then brag that they played the oldest course i
