Silverstream Horses

We offer a unique horse riding experience in the remote backcountry mountains of New Zealand’s South Island.

Ride through unspoiled high country, like the gold mining pioneers more than a hundred years ago. Central Otago with its big open skies, few inhabitants, charming old gold mining towns and beautiful mountain ranges takes you back a time when life was harder and simpler, when the gold miners first arrived 150 years ago.

With hundreds of kilometers of trail over mountain ranges, through valleys and along lakes it’s an amazing area to explore. Depending on riding experience and personal preference we can cover up to 50 km a day or take it easier with 10 or 20 km a day.

Accommodation along the trail is camping style in tents or the occasional back country hut. We also offer half day beach rides, or farm rides in Dunedin.
